November 8
I confess I am closer to God’s guidance sometimes rather than others. One of my sinful nature traits is to try to handle things on my own. I tell myself, mistakenly, that I can face life’s challenges on my own. After all, I learned it early. Isn’t every…..

One of my neighbors often says, in response to my, “How are you, Jesse,” smiles and says: “Too blessed to be stressed.” He lives the Christian life of joy and thanksgiving every day. He knows the strength of God’s love in His life, and I have begun using his comment with others. It’s amazing what a difference it makes in people’s attitudes, and in mine.
Today’s Scripture: “Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the…..

I choose to live with an attitude of gratitude for the big things, such as my personal relationship with Jesus Christ and His atoning sacrificial Presence with me, and for the little personal things which affect my moment in time/history but have eternal consequences. Even the difficult days become testimonies to His guidance.
What, then, does the Bible say about gratitude? There are at least 30 references to giving thanks and offering thanksgiving in a quick overview of…..
From my new devotional book:
November 5
It is with awe and an attitude of gratitude that He is not merely “out there” but is a very personal presence because He reaches us through sending Jesus Christ as a visible presence, and His Holy Spirit to guide us and point us to Him, Holy yet approachable.
When I look at life through His perspective, my life is inexplicably entwined with His purposes for me and for those with whom I…..

November 4
The world calls unexplainable situations by various names: circumstance or chance, coincidence or accident, serendipity or freak of nature, luck or magic. Culture has its explanations. How many times have we heard:
“It is what it is,” “That’s the way the cookie crumbles,” or “That’s life.?”
I, on the other hand, live in the sure knowledge that God is in charge of my every experience; therefore, I know by…..
From my newest book, about to be published, THANKSLIVING: A NOVEMBER DEVOTIONAL GUIDE, the first three entries. Because my website was down, I am posting this on the third. Each day I will post the newest page. Give me feedback in the comments section, please, and recognize that this is copyrighted material.
During this month of November, let us study the topic of thanksgiving, with an attitude of thanksliving, determining to be thankful for who we are, what our…..
From The Battle Plan for Prayer by Stephen and ALex Kendrick, a book I HIGHLY RECOMMEND: “Lord, You are a good and loving God. You didn’t need to allow us to know You and pray to You, but You did. I thank You that through Jesus we can boldly approach Your throne of grace in our time of need. Make me as a strong and effective prayer warrior. Help me walk closely with You, to pray in faith, in Jesus’…..

This morning there are Sunday School teachers, youth leaders, parents, pastors, congregations, and indeed all thinking Christians mourning the deaths of students in Oregon. Those precious young people who stood up for their faith in Christ are to be celebrated, for they are victorious martyrs, wearing white robes in the throne room of the Most High, joining with others throughout the ages whose faith was tested to the ultimate loss of their early lives.
In my book, It’s a God…..
I’ve been highlighting Whispering Woods, my book about a Victorian Inn and resort in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, on Fridays. From my about to be published sequel, Winter Wonderland, here is an encounter chapter about Phil and a new friend, Todd, who meet after 9.11, volunteering at St. Paul’s Trinity Church after the towers fell.
“In one of those Godincidences, Heather’s husband, Todd Anderson volunteered at St. Paul’s Trinity Church, the epicenter of recovery efforts at ground zero, and met Phil…..
