On this second day of Lent, we read this scripture, devotional, and Prayer to bring us closer to Christ and others:
LEAN INTO LENT DAY 2
(Proverbs 29:25) The fear of a man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe.
With the advent of cable news and social media, stories of evil abound. Every…..
LEAN INTO LENT DAY ONE preface to book and entry for today:
PREFACE
From my previously published book, Restore My Soul: A Lenten Journey (2018) which includes forty original Psalms (I have written hundreds of original My Psalms in my other devotional books) here is some information about Lent:
“Because Easter date changes each year according to the Lunar calendar, Lent is a different length each year. Roughly forty days, Lent signifies Christ’s time of temptation by…..
Tomorrow the season of Lent 20256 begins. I have written two books to be used during the forty days leading up to Good Friday. One, Retore My Soul Psalms, a Lenten Journal includes personal psalms of praise and the second Lean Into Lent includes scriptures, a short devotional, and a prayer for each day and Lenten Hymns, public domain for the Sundays. The Lord’s Day Sundays are considered Little Easters and are not included in the traditional period of Lent……
My Psalm Number 526
When times of sorrow arrive
With all the fury of today’s northern snowstorm
Bringing frigidity, pain, suffering, and woes,
The afterglow of moonlight on new-fallen snow
Brings comfort, serenity, and peace.
So also the comforting hugs,
The cards, letters, bouquet and sweet evidences of love
Soothe the heartsick soul
And bring promise of sunnier days ahead.

For my faithful readers, I apologize for not posting. The month of January, while usually time to reflect and predict better things for the new year has been stressful for me and for the Jackson family. It began with, continued with, and concludes around my sister Dorothy Edna Whitaker.
I have been her caregiver since the fall of 2023, placing her in two assisted living places, visiting her in Palm Bay Hospital and Holmes Regional Hospital, helping her through rehabilitation…..
As I await the death of my sister, Dottie, I turn to scripture for comfort and peace. Of course, I quote Psalm 23, but its predecessor Ezekiel, Chapter 34 reminds me that God chose David to speak this truth–that God shepherds us all. Verse 39 says, “And you are my sheep human sheep of my pasture, and I…..
Today worldwide, Christians will light the Fourth Advent Wreath candle. The center one will be lit on Christmas Eve.
Today’s is commonly called the Peace Candle. Here are the readings from scripture for your family to hear, and the advent hymn.
PRAYER: [1] “Purify our conscience, Almighty God, by your daily visitation, that your Son Jesus Christ, at his coming, may find in us a mansion prepared for himself; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity…..
It is impossible to hide from God. Today’s Jesse Ornament is a whale, and the story of Jonah teaches us that God will not let us hide. He knows everything about us because He created us for His purposes. Jonah was told by God to go to Ninevah to try to save the city. He rebelled, but God got him there in a bizarre manner. Do we believe in miracles? Oh yes.
SCRIPTURE: [1]
The Lord spoke his…..
Old Testament prophecy is fascinating to read. This passage from Isaiah came true in the person of Jesus, the Christ. He bridged the gap between man and God, and God and man, and changed man’s understanding of who Almighty God is. Christianity it is the only religious system in which man does not reach God by doing rituals or trying to be “good.” Instead, God reached to man to redeem him and give him abundant life and eternity in His…..
