This is still a first draft, but for those of you who are following the story, you’ll notice some revisions. Writing is such a fluid process!
Chapter 1
Chapter 1
I’ve always loved butterflies. There’s something magical about how they hatch, how the change from squishy caterpillars to the jewel-toned beauties happens, how they choose the tiniest weed flowers and most outlandishly colored bougainvillea to visit, and how they can dance and flutter at will.
Now that…..
Whatever we face today, our sovereign God knows our story and strengthens us to face our trials. There are no surprises, only Godincidences waiting for us.
MY PSALM 325 TRIALS
Dear Heavenly Father, Creator, yet Abba, Father, Your rich blessings fall on me Like the thunderous showers. You drench me with Your love, You saturate me with Your Presence Whenever I call on Your Blessed Name.
From the desert of nonchalance, You raise me to remembrance Of noticing the…..
Chapter 2
I wrote this story when I was seventy-five and I felt liberated enough to reveal some of my past. I called it “Bridging the Years.” It was a class assignment, a conversation between two people, and a setting description. The first section is imaginary, the Maggie part, but the rest is all too real, and I get tears every time I think about it, even though there are supposedly no tears in heaven. It touches my heart,…..

Since my sister’s visit last month, I have begun a new project. Ellen has studied our family history and has traced our family back to 1042 on our father’s side, and 1729 on our mother’s side. Before the particulars of our mom’s life are lost to history, like so many of the names and birth-death dates and snippets of their life stories fade, and now that the grieving period for mom has passed into a dull ache, I’m remembering our…..
Political animosity reminds me of this Proverb from chapter 11: “If you search for good, you will find favor; but if you search for evil, it will find you! Trouble chases sinners, while blessings chase the righteous.” Let us agree, this day, to search for the good in others, be thankful for our blessings as a nation, and seek to see the glass half full rather than half empty. Pray for enemies but encourage those who deserve tolerance, friendship, and…..
Wonderful family get together last night with the MacLean and Whitaker families at the Jacksons’ house. We celebrated my sister and brother-in-love’s visit, and distributed spreadsheets of our family’s (Whitaker) genealogy that Ellen has worked so hard to assemble. Now the grandchildren can qualify for DAR scholarships in the future, and we can think about twenty-six generations, many of whom shared the faith. Someday we’ll meet for a great family reunion in heaven and meet the prince who died in…..
Yesterday, my sister and I tackled a box of family archives. What a blessing it was. I rediscovered pictures, mementos, and hundreds of pages of my mother’s writing. What’s next for these trophies? Not sure yet. Shall I add them to my website at www.bettyjackson.net so others can share them too? But today I’m sharing this plenty in 2020 from Ephesians 1:18 to bless your day and mine: “I pray that your hearts will…..
This verse brings me to praise God every time I read it. “What can we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? Since God did not spare even His own Son, but gave Him up for us all, won’t God, who gave us Christ, also give us everything else?” Romams 8:31-32. Talk about Sharing the Plenty in 2020!
This is My Psalm 151. May it bless your day and…..
