“Love is the fulfillment of the law.” Romans 13:10
Today’s Daily Vitamin holds great promise for the day, if I can keep it! Here’s what I Thessalonians 5: 16 says: “Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
Wow! What an ideal. I can usually manage the joy for a while, until I hear the latest news broadcast or I feel ignored or rejected by those I love. I can feel confident that I am praying continually,…..
1 Thessalonians 5:16 “Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
There’s a special poem, written by Ruth Bell Graham before her marriage to Christian evangelist, Billy Graham, that speaks to the longing of a woman’s heart to be led to the right marriage partner, should that be God’s plan for her life. I included it in It’s a God Thing! (with permission) and share it with you as a special blessing. I first read it in 1960, I believe it was, in Reader’s Digest. It has been later published in…..
As a single, in courtship, in marriage, let this be the guiding blessing: “May God himslef, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it.” (I Thess. 23-4)
In the Acknowledgements section of It’s a God Thing! I paid tribute to my mom, to whom the book is dedicated, by writing this very true statement, which is, in essence, Robert Frost’s statement in today’s Daily Vitamin.
“When I say my mom first told this story, let me explain. For her 79th birthday, I typed and loosely edited her manuscript, entitled A Thief in the Night. She was committed to the story, but had some parts she wanted to…..
“No tears in the writer, no tears in the reader. No surprise for the writer, not surprise for the reader.” Robert Frost
Note: I had the School Board vote date wrong yesterday–it has been postponed until the 12th. Keep praying.
One of the great joys of my life now is watching our little granddaughter explore the world. As an adorable 20 month old, she is showing me anew what today’s Daily Vitamin means, that of being a new creature, dependent, yet displaying her free will as she becomes part of the world around her. From It’s a God Thing! page 145: “Once…..
“Once Christ enters a person’s life, that person becaumes a new creature. We call it being born again. It’s like the person becomes childlike, totally trusting God for his life, his thoughts, his career, his choices, his future, his family, everything.” (It’s a God Thing!)
Enjoyed my tutoring today–a 6th grade article about women inventors: windshield wipers! who knew?, and completing a fractured folk tale: The Three Little Pigs done by a 4th grader with cats and dogs. Fun. I really like the statement on my Daily Reflections page from Guidepost today: “We don’t always need to know where we are going as long as we know whom we are following. God is in control. Even when we wind up in strange places or unusual…..
