Both of my recently published books contain messages about love, true marriage, courtship and dating, marriage ceremonies, and romance. They would make good presents for your beloved!
The first, It’s a God Thing!, shows a young couple’s romance, marriage ceremony, and early married life. John Phelps and his bride Deirdre Piaget are the central focus of this book. The book, published by WestBow Press in December of 2012, includes suspense, romance, terrorism, courtship, pastoral ministry, and End Times events which…..
When we are rooted in the Word, when we are praying consistently and constantly, when we have clear goals, when we keep strict account of our schedules, and when we remember to remember, we can perhaps say: “The enemy is at bay; I’m ok; my guard is up; God is in charge; all is well with my soul.”

With all the gala preparation of the ancient games and Coliseum events in ancient empires, the day is here again, and some 45 advertisers will spend $4.5 million dollars for 30 seconds to convince us to buy their products or services. People like me who know little about the Seahawks or Broncos will eat too much, alternately cheer and groan as mere mortals try to attain sports immortality, and in the end, be little affected by the whole shebang. Yet,…..
My calendar has been stacked since last Tuesday. I’m just now able to come up for air. I thought retirement meant time to savor experiences rather than stack them one on top of each other in a huge pile like the one I’m tackling in this post.
My priorities include, in this order: God, family, church activities, writing, music, reading, then the mundane house stuff and other relationships.
This week, all of them claimed my “undivided” attention. It’s been a…..
Create in me a clean heart, and renew a right spirit within me. Scripture is always a good place to start.
We are beginning a new women’s Bible study on Tuesday with a group of ladies as church. It’s focus is not just maintaining and growing our own faith, although that is always my purpose, but in opposing Satan’s attacks because we doing that very thing. I am becoming aware through looking at this material, that Godly people can and…..
As we enter the new year, it’s all too evident there are financial concerns, there are struggles of inequality and hatred which have always been present, there are wars and rumors of wars, there is concern about health care, the food supply, and the role of government, and everything else. But, there is also the confidence that God is with His people, that Christians throughout the world are praying for deliverance, that resources are available to us provided by His…..
“Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” Psalm 90:12 has great relevance as one day passes into the next, as one year passes. So, in the few verses before it, I have learned a part of that wisdom. “The length of our days is seventy years–or eighty, if we have the strength; yet their span is but trouble and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away.” Yes, life is sometimes…..
All good stories start out, it was a dark and rainy day, right? Well, December 28, 1962 was snowy, sleety, foggy, drizzly, and dastardly cold. We wanted a Christmas week wedding, and we got what comes along with that desire in Massapequa, New York. To make things worse, our honeymoon in the Pocono Mountains saw outdoor restrictions because the wind chill was well below zero, so many of the planned activities were canceled. We did, however, make candles. Whoopie!

As part of my life of Thanksliving, I continue with another celebratory idea. Why not celebrate Christmas every day?
I noticed yesterday while I did some late shopping on Christmas Eve, stocking the cupboards yet again, running some errands, visiting the card store, etc., that people were unusually friendly, patient, kind, smiling, and accommodating. There’s something special about the good will of Christmas. I saw no, “Bah Humbug!”
When we think globally what that might look like, I’m hoping there…..
In the midst of hurrying and scurrying and getting ready for Christmas, take a brief respite and enjoy the introduction to my new book, Bless You Bouquets: A Memoir. This book celebrates Garden Gifts to Special People in my Life Walk. Sit down in a comfy chair with your favorite cuppa or a nice glass of wine, and enjoy the first of many interludes in my book. You’ll be glad you did!
