Several months ago I was contemplating writing a book called Cloud of Witnesses, Stories of Grace-filled Christians walking with the Lord in this life. Two people who have most influenced my walk with the Lord are Leon and Emily Pippin. Yesterday, dear Leon passed to Glory, and as I post this, Emily is hospitalized for the second time this month.
Along with dear friends Jeff and Priscilla Framm, Marion Redding, and the three Bettys: Bettie Pruitt, Betty Winn, David Fife,…..
When difficulties occur, I remain steadfast that God is good, all the time. He is sovereign, He sees the big picture. He loves me. That’s all I need to know in this life and beyond.
Recently I have observed several truths that could be life-changing, at least as I look at them close up.
I have been caring for a dear friend who is losing his fight against demonic cancer and its horrid effects on his life and his family’s……
Oh, how I ask this for so many of my hurting friends today: “Jesus…asked him, ‘Would you like to get well?’ “I can’t, sir,” the sick man said, ‘for I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred up.’ Jesus told him, “Stand up, pick up your sleeping mat, and walk!’ Instantly, the man was healed! Still praying for a long list of saints during the night and this morning. Oh, how we need…..
Standing at the Gate; Knocking at the Door; Coming Home
This will be the title, I think, of the new book I’m proposing. If you are an immigrant, or your parents or close relatives were, I’d like to tell your story.
Immigration is on everyone’s mind right now. I have many immigrant friends. I want to tell your story, so that story is not lost to another generation. If you read my book proposal, you will understand that. I do…..
“God blesses those who are merciful, for they will be shown mercy. God blesses those whose hearts are pure, for they will see God. God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God.” Matthew said it, I believe it, let it be so. As we inaugurate a new President this day, may we be aware that God is sovereign, He appoints our days, He rules the universe, He calls our leaders to serve,…..
2016 was a great year for me as a writer. I was just compiling a list for the Space Coast Writers’ Guild publication this month. God has graced me with the opportunity to write several things and get them published. My only regret is that I am better at writing than marketing. My friends and family have been supported, but I have given away more books than I have sold. However, those who have read my work have been blessed…..
I wrote a little book, And God Chose Joseph, in which I tried to depict what the role of Joseph was in raising The Son of God. This is a short excerpt:
“You can imagine he was quite taken aback by the next event which occurred several months later. Magi arrived, on camels, bringing gifts Joseph had only heard existed! They brought gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
It was quite a sight to see kings in the house, bending their knees,…..
It seems we have been getting ready for Christmas since before Thanksgiving. The piped in Christmas music, the gaudy decorations, the endless advertising, all have crescendoed to this week.
The Advent countdown is almost finished. I’ve hung the Jesse Tree ornaments and the Chrismons, the tree is decorated, and the eighty-plus nativity sets in my collection have been out long enough to collect dust. I’ve dutifully stood in line to mail long-distance presence. I long ago did away with Christmas…..
This year I have spent Advent in intensity. I wrote a book which I’ve dreamed about for several years, researched for many months, and crafted into fruition for over a year. Aptly called Advent Adventure: A Devotional Guide, it is intended for families to instruct their children in the prophecies and fulfillment of them, showing that God’s plan from the beginning was to send His special gift of salvation to man in the form of the Incarnate Christ, His beloved…..
ADVENT ADVENTURE WEEK FOUR DECEMBER 18-25
Two opportunities to use the Advent Wreath: the fourth Sunday and Christmas Eve or Christmas Day: Week 4 features the Peaceable Kingdom, the Second Coming, and the hymn “Thou Didst Leave Thy Throne.”
And Christmas Eve, we light the Christ Candle and sing “Once In Royal David’s City.”
Some families also celebrate this event with a Happy Birthday Baby Jesus Cake and the youngest child present blows out the single candle.
Jesse Tree Remaining…..
