It’s February, or Lovuary or some such thing on the Rom Com channel. Ads for diamonds and fancy pajamas and roses and such fill the many interruptions to the movies and other shows. But I want to write about the love that God showed us by sending Jesus to live with us as Son of Man.
As you know, I am studying the book…..
The theme for today is “Hovering.” Precipitated by the Chinese baloon that is surveilling us from 60,000 feet and causing us much discussion, I’m thinking about the ramifications of knowing that another superpower is hovering over us, uninvited, trying to see what we’re up to.
Then, I watched a doting grandfather at the cafe where we…..
There are at least two places where the sentence, “Nothing is too hard for God,” appears. One is the Sarah story when she is told she will conceive and bear a child way after the age of fertility, and one in Jeremiah 32:17.
I just heard (viewed) a You Tube presentation about the influence and uses of Artificial Intelligence. It scared me as a Christian (the film is by a Christian woman), as a writer, as a grandmother, and as…..
Today I begin a long-awaited Bible study of Revelation using Nancy Guthrie’s book, Blessed. There are three groups using this book and video series at Covenant, and I’m excited to see her “revelation” on Revelation. While I have studied John’s book several times, I like the approach this author is taking.
I use two desk calendars with Bible verses on them, and again, today, they converge with the same message. Ephesians 3:19 says: May you experience the love of Christ through…..
Several family members and friends had birthdays this week, and we’re almost through the first month of the new year, so it’s a good time to consider how we “number our days.” Psalm 90 teaches about the passing of time. Additionally, I’m beginning a study of the book of Revelation. I did not know, and now do–see, I’m still learning new things–that the word Revelation means Apocalypses in Greek, and that when things of God are revealed in a special…..
Remember when you were in high school, you longed to belong? Being part of a group gave you a sense of recognition for who you were and who you wanted to be. After all, that’s an indication we are made in the imaage of God, when you think about it. God is trinity–associated fully with Father, Son, Holy Spirit, integral to His being. Jesus called a band of disciples, and…..
Happy Birthday, Happy New Year, Congratulations! These are expressions of good wishes we give to those we love, and with smiles, we help them celebrate the event. Celebration is good for our souls. It helps deter our thinking from things that can cause us pain, grief, distress, and all those other negative things we’d rather not deal with.
Sometimes, when we’re dealing with the negatives, remembering the better times bring…..
Perhaps it’s fair to say that money troubles cause anxiety, and many are feeling the pinch or the downright squeeze right now. While we live in a society which flaunts its wealth, and we are a beacon, obviously, to many refugees seeing prosperity, the truth is that budgeting and restraint is becoming more necessary every day. There are advertisers, scammers, and influencers who can cause real harm to those who lack good “money” sense.
Retired people on fixed incomes are…..
Outside of the dynamic preaching and worship time we experience in attending church, the fellowship of the saints is a true blessing. The major difference in Christianity’s message, compared to other belief systems, is that God builds a relationship with His people. He covenants with us. That means that He pledges to be our beneficent God when we pledge ourselves to follow His guidance and direction. We are to have no other gods before Him, which means, nothing in this…..
Happy birthday, Mom. Remembering you with thanksgiving on what would have been your 106th birthday today. Thank you for the memories too numerous to count. You directly affected me in so many ways, and in spired me to write a version of your first book, which became “It’s a God Thing!” and later “It’s Surely a God Thing!”. My memoir, “Bless You…..
