LEAN INTO LENT DAY 35
(Romans 10:9) If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved….(Romans 10L13) For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
This assurance is for all people, for John reminds us in chapter 3:16 that God chose to save those who believe in Jesus as Lord. It has nothing to do with our works, or being a good person, or living up to all the commandments, or thinking we’re worthy. It is totally by the grace of God that we come to Jesus. We don’t need to be perfect, for we indeed are not. We don’t have to follow all the rules to earn His notice. The perfection of Jesus and His sacrifice for the sins of the world is for us to confess with our hearts and minds.
PRAYER; Heavenly Father, I know in my heart and confess with my mouth that I am a sinner, because I want to do things my way. I am inherently self-centered, just like Adam and Eve were in the Garden, just like a newborn baby who must be the center of attention in pure selfishness.
My motives betray who I am. I confess my unworthiness and call on You, Savior Jesus, to redirect my heart to worship You for loving me and forgiving my sin.
Thank You for choosing me as one of Yours. Amen.
From my book Restore My Soul Psalms: A Lenten Journey My Psalm 334
MY PSALM 344 REFLECTION
Almighty Father, Everlasting God, Creator and Sustainer,
This day I come in humble thanksgiving
For Your gift of Jesus to the world.
Where would we be without His Presence
To admonish, to guide, to cleanse, to promise?
Lord Jesus, I bow to You this day
Remembering Your pure life lived for Your Father,
Transforming life on earth as we know it
By Your Presence and Your example.
You taught us to love;
We do it so imperfectly.
You gave us perspective
So we can know the Father,
In all His patience, love, mercy, forgiveness
And power to save.
You suffered deprivation, scorn, betrayal
And cruel death
So we can know life in abundance and fulness
Under the Father’s care.
I thank You that I live on this side of the cross.
I thank You that You now dwell
With Your Father In heaven
So that the Holy Spirit can continue Your work
In our hearts, minds, and souls,
Bringing us peace that passes all understanding.
Thank You, Father, Son and Holy Spirit
For purchasing my salvation
And guiding my life through days of trouble
And nights of unrest.
Thank You for Your provision, Your direction,
Your covenant promise
And the gift of life everlasting
In Your Eternal Presence. Amen.
