LEAN INTO LENT DAY 33
(Psalm 84”10-12) A single day in Your court is better than a thousand anywhere else. I would rather be a gatekeeper in the house of God than live the good life in the homes of the wicked. For the Lord God is our sun and our shield. He gives us grace and glory. The Lord will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right. O Lord of Heaven’s Armies, what joy for those who trust in You.
Life is all about choices, when we think about it. Whether it is a choice of career, a mate, a place to live, how to raise children, what retirement might look like, we apply our rational minds to think things through and come to a conclusion considering all the options. When it comes to where we want to stand regarding God, do we want to go “all in” in following Him? Do we think we can be a lone, passive Christian, perhaps leading a moral life, but not an abundant one. Worst case scenario, do we reject His message? The Scripture tells us what to do with those options. It’s perfectly clear.
PRAYER; Lord, help me to choose wisely. Although I can count on Your forgiveness when I repent and do a course correction, it would be much wiser if I chose Your path from the beginning, rather than cleaning up the mess I could make by following the wrong path. Keep me from detours and not straying in the first place. Let my experience help to guide others. Use me in Your plan for Your kingdom on earth. Amen.
From my book Restore My Soul Psalms, My Psalm 303 Discouragement
MY PSALM 302 DISCOURAGEMENT
Almighty Father, You who created me,
You know me all too well.
When I am discouraged,
Bound by emotions which drain my energy
And sap my strength,
I pray deliverance.
When life’s struggles become burdensome,
When I see the dark skies and feel overwhelmed,
When death and disasters are clouds on my mind
And the pain of sin overtakes my soul,
I pray deliverance.
When I read in Psalms that David felt depression,
I find strength and comfort in his acknowledgment
Of You, His source of strength and confidence.
It blesses me to know I too can call upon Your Name.
I pray for deliverance.
When I discover once more
The refreshment of Your Presence,
Of the words you speak through Scripture,
Or the hug of a friend You’ve sent to me,
Or the encouragement of acts of kindness,
Or the sunshine flooding my spirit,I recognize Your deliverance.
With my whole being, I thank You for once more,
Telling my thirsty soul
That You are my Rock,
You are my salvation,
You are my everything.
What would I do in this life
Without Your Presence?
I fall on my knees in praise
For Jesus who showed me His Father,
You, merciful Father, Who adopts me as Your child.
Where would I be if I could not call You,
Abba, Father?
I know You as my Shepherd when I often stray.
I know You as the Lamp, the Light, that I may not stumble.
I know You as the Source of all that is good in this life.
I know You as the unfailing Rudder of my ship.
I know You as the Giver of all good gifts,
And I know You as my only Savior
And my blessed Deliverer. Amen.
