LEAN INTO LENT DAY 16

(Ephesians 4:1-3) Walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
The early church was undergoing growing pains, and many conflicting opinions occurred. When Paul wrote this epistle, he was urging unity. Does that mean all Christians interpret everything the same way? Do we adopt one traditional worship format? Why is there such diversity of denominations and practices?
A long time ago I read a book titled “Your God Is Too Small by J.B. Phillips. It affected my walk with Jesus. As long as we are guided by a gospel-preaching church where the Bible is the source of practices and beliefs, we are guardians against heresy. Humility, gentleness, and patience are good qualities to develop. Let’s work on these during this Lenten season. Work for purity in the church and in ourselves. Practice forgiveness and understanding among us.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, help me to walk with You in humility, gentleness and patience in my understanding of Your direction and Your teaching me through scripture, preaching, and study. Bless me as I seek to follow you and walk with you daily as my Lord. Amen.
From my book, Restore My Soul Psalms: A Lenten Journey:
MY PSALM 319 CONFIDENCE
Dear Heavenly Father, Creator of all things,
I thank You for loving me, for calling me, for sustaining me
And for the confidence of my salvation
Through my Lord, Jesus Christ.
I thank You for Your promise to guide and direct my path
So I do not have to wander this life
Aimlessly and without purpose.
I thank You for assuring me that Your sovereign will
Is better than my plans and thoughts and actions.
I thankYou for telling me that all things
Work together for good
For those who follow You. I am Your child.
I thank You for Your church, Your Bride,
Teaching me Your ways, leading me in worship.
I thank You for pastors and teachers who share the Gospel
And for the clouds of witnesses You have provided me.
I thank You for the work of those who spread Your Word
To all lands and peoples, tongues and tribes
And that ultimately we will all worship at Your feet
In heaven’s glory.
I thank You for the confidence that it will be so. Amen.
