When times of sorrow arrive
With all the fury of today’s northern snowstorm
Bringing frigidity, pain, suffering, and woes,
The afterglow of moonlight on new-fallen snow
Brings comfort, serenity, and peace.
So also the comforting hugs,
The cards, letters, bouquet and sweet evidences of love
Soothe the heartsick soul
And bring promise of sunnier days ahead.

DOROTHY EDNA WHITAKER JANUARY 26, 1945 TO JANUARY 13, 2026
Dorothy Edna Whitaker was born in Hudson, New York to Bessie Irene Marriott Whitaker and Loren James Whitaker. She joined siblings Betty June (1940) and Ellen Irene (1942), and Loren James Jr. completed the family (1946). She and her sisters are members of the DAR, Daughters of the American Revolution. Named after her mother’s friend, Dorothy Goodrich, her middle name was her paternal grandmother’s name, Edna Luella Scudder Whitaker……
For my faithful readers, I apologize for not posting. The month of January, while usually time to reflect and predict better things for the new year has been stressful for me and for the Jackson family. It began with, continued with, and concludes around my sister Dorothy Edna Whitaker.
I have been her caregiver since the fall of 2023, placing her in two assisted living places, visiting her in Palm Bay Hospital and Holmes Regional Hospital, helping her through rehabilitation…..
As I await the death of my sister, Dottie, I turn to scripture for comfort and peace. Of course, I quote Psalm 23, but its predecessor Ezekiel, Chapter 34 reminds me that God chose David to speak this truth–that God shepherds us all.
